What a party! This destination wedding was nothing short but a fun and glamourous international affair. Hvar is such a perfect little island to celebrate an intimate mediterranean wedding close to the sea. It has old world charme, a mediterranean harbour feel and some pretty scenic spots to explore. The couple lives in London works in the music and film industry, which made the whole wedding crowd an international & ecclectic mix. Radness all the way. The wedding took place in the courtyard of St. Marks Hvar Croatia a quite historic setting indeed. The wedding was planned by Dalmatia Events.
There is also a crazy background story to photographing this wedding. It’s the one and only wedding, the couple and i were quite close to drowning. So here is the story: after the portrait session in old town Hvar, Michelle, Dan and myself got in a little boat to taxi to the evening reception, located on a small island in front of Hvar, where their guests were already waiting. There was a massive storm approaching and a minute after leaving the shore there was heavy rain, lightning and some scary waves.
Within minutes we were soaking wet and holding tight to whatever was available. Somewhere on the middle of the ocean I thought: ok that’s it, what an ironic way to die. With my couple, on their wedding day, in a boat, on the adriatic see. Couldn’t it get any more dramatic and fitting for a wedding photographer? Luckily we somehow made it to the tiny island, but we still had to walk for 20 minutes inland to reach the venue. When arriving we were off to champagne right away (i had two glasses right away) and dry clothes. What followed was an incredible party afterwards celebrating love & life.
