Effie and Winston got married in the tropical garden of the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Hotel. Surrounded by family and friends (yes to circular seating!), their free-spirited celebration was simply beautiful. Under an arch of roses and majestic tropical trees they were exchanging their vows. Even some tropical raindrops kissed their cheeks. They choose the malaysian island of Penang, because Winston had spent quite some time here with his family, so it seemed the perfect fit.
Both are into architecture and design, so their excitement about rugged walls, colors, decor and interesting graphics is mutual. The day after their wedding we went for portraits in the old town of Georgetown. Which is a pretty cool place with lots of chinese influences and heritage architecture. Quirkyness came easy druing the shoot. I totally enjoyed shaping some interesting angles and inspiration was flowing easily.
Effie and Winston, it was a pure delight capturing your wedding and getting to meet and photograph you both in Shanghai and Penang.
About working with Chris: ‘Effie found Chris through her work, literally, images from separate posts that leads us to her website..so from the beginning there’s a level of trust and comfort that helps immensely. It is an extraordinary joy, and relief, especially for the shoot on the big day when you don’t’ have to worry about how the images will comes out. ‘ Effie & Winston
